Taylor and Holly Walker first connected on a dating app, and had their first date on New Year’s Day.
“There was something early on that was so undeniable,” Holly said. “I remember thinking to myself, ‘This is who I want to do life with. This is who I want on my team forever.’”
Exactly one year after their first date, Taylor popped the question. She set up a romantic proposal site with candles and roses overlooking the water on Branford Point, Conn. In a viewfinder, she had customized photos of the couple’s year together, each with a word of the phrase “I have loved you from the start. Will you marry me?”
They chose The Stowehof for their 45-person wedding. Piecasso was the perfect spot for their rehearsal dinner “because it is our favorite pizza place in Stowe (the world?), and we wanted to share that,” Holly said.
Family and friends surprised the couple with a wedding shower at Stowe Bowl, where the party enjoyed bowling and hors d’oeuvres. “The owners went out of their way to put our names and congratulations on the marquee!” Holly said, and it was a highlight of their weekend.
The couple made floral hoops for their bridesmaids, and bought a sound system to play Spotify tunes all night long.
Dessert was a naked cake with maple mousse from Montilio’s Baking Co. in Quincy, Mass.
For couples preparing to tie the knot in Vermont, Holly says, “Don’t fixate on the weather forecast! The morning of our wedding showed rain, but luckily for us and the uncertainty of New England weather, we had a beautiful dry afternoon and evening!”
