Twenty runners participated in the last trail series race sponsored by the Harwood Union High School cross-country team on Friday, July 18, and records were broken for both men and women.
Georgy Aitken, a Harwood alumnus and member of the UVM cross-country team, set a men’s record on the 3-mile course with a time of 18:43.
Harwood cross-country runner Charlotte Boyden set a women’s record on the 3-mile course with a time of 21:35.
“Charlotte will be one of our team leaders, and will be very competitive this fall. It looks like her summer training is going well,” said John Kerrigan, the Harwood cross-country coach.
The Harwood Summer Fun Runs take place every Friday throughout the summer. Kids’ races begin at 6:30 p.m., and adult races start at 6:45. Entry fees of $2 for kids, $4 for students and $6 for adults go to support the Harwood cross-country team’s trip to Belfast, Maine, on Oct. 3.
