The U-32 Raiders (8-3) outgunned the visiting Lady Highlanders in each quarter and extended a 24-point halftime lead until the final buzzer. Harwood scored six points in each quarter.
Harwood (4-4) gained a brief lead at the start of the game when Jennifer James (10 points) sank back-to-back three-pointers. But then the Raiders went on a 27-point scoring spree that stretched into the second quarter until Harwood made two free throws.
Peyton Burr scored a bucket midway through the second to get Harwood into double digits. Caitlyn Marino (12 points) hit a shot at the buzzer to make it 18-46 at the end of the third quarter.
The U-32 defense keyed on Lauren Harper and held her scoreless. Madison Bennett scored 17 points for U-32 and Kaylee Herring scored 13.
Girls’ hockey
BFA-St. Albans 6, Harwood 1

The top-ranked Comets (7-3) took a 3-0 lead in the first period when Danielle Schneider scored at 3:47, followed by a power-play goal at 4:29 by Aliza Ellis and a score at 11:37 by Jade Remick.
In the second period, Harwood sophomore Laura Nealy scored on a power play at 5:04 with an assist from Zoe Alves. BFA’s Emma Hill got help from Kait Laroe at 13:33 on a power play.
Harwood gave up a third power play goal in the final period at 4:48 when Schneider scored her second of the night. Hill and Laroe reversed roles for the final BFA tally at 5:33.
Siena Damon made 52 saves in net for Harwood (2-7-2).
Boys’ hockey
Milton 6, Harwood 3

The Highlanders let slip another lead after two solid periods of play as the Yellowjackets scored three unanswered goals in the third period.
Harwood freshman Justin Cantwell drew first blood with a slap shot from the top of the circle. But it took Milton less than 30 seconds to tie it up at 9:23 in the first period.
Milton scored again 36 seconds into the second period, but junior winger Adam Lamson tied it again for Harwood at 2:08.
The Highlanders played a well-disciplined game without any penalties, but converted on only 1 of 6 power plays, including two 5-on-3 advantage opportunities.
An extended power play in the second period helped Ty Delphia score for Harwood, with assists from Cantwell and Ryan Garrand.
Harwood goalie Dean Touchette made some huge saves late in the second period, but Milton broke through at 13:55 to tie it up.
The wheels fell off the cart in the third, as Milton scored three more goals and shut out Harwood.
Alpine ski team
Middlebury College Snow Bowl
Jan. 20
On Monday, the Harwood Union alpine teams competed at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl in a two-run slalom. It was a good day for both teams, with the boys placing second and the girls third overall in a field of nine teams.
Junior Megan O’Shea (second) and Mercedes Woolley (10th) got the Harwood girls off to a great start with two solid runs. Sarah Wry (18th), Piper Beilke (19th), Maddie Lowe (20th), Ragan McMann (29th), Anna Belongia (31st) and Lauren McMann (35th) all skied well.
Senior Hobey Weston (fourth), John Eagan (sixth) and Matt Crowell (10th) jumpstarted the boys’ team. Ben Friedman (19th), Alec McGlynn (22nd), Parker Herilhy and Malcolm Purinton (38th) all skied solid runs as well.
The teams head to Lincoln Peak Saturday, Jan. 25, for another slalom event.
