I write this letter in support of Anthony Pollina for state senator for Washington County. If you have an elder or a person with a disability in your family, you need to re-elect Anthony Pollina to the state Senate.
As a disability rights advocate, I am very impressed with Anthony’s record and his courage to challenge the status quo in Montpelier. He speaks up on issues like the budget for disability and aging services during a time when the demand for these services is rising.
Last year when the budget was “debated” on the floor of the Senate, Anthony was the only senator to ask any questions. Passing a budget is one of the most important jobs of a senator, yet last session the “debate” was under 30 minutes.
One of the biggest problems we face as a state and as a nation is growing income inequality and poverty. We need leaders like Anthony Pollina who are willing to ask the tough questions. Our elected officials must be open to including our voices at the Statehouse. There is a face and story behind every budget item. Together we can do better.
