A former Waterbury resident now living in Maine has been charged with sexually assaulting a child over a period of years more than a decade ago.

Christopher Forkey, 46, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a felony charge of aggravated sexual assault of a victim under 13 years of age.

According to Vermont State Police, Forkey was arrested Monday, Nov. 4, after an investigation by the Washington County Unit for Special Investigations.

Police allege the assaults took place when he lived in Waterbury between 2003 and 2005 and involved a boy from age 5 to age 7.

Prosecutors asked that Forkey be held for lack of bail, but the judge ordered him released on conditions that prohibit him from contacting or coming within 300 feet of the victim or the victim’s residence. He is also prohibited from having unsupervised contact with any minors.
