State Sen. William Doyle, a Republican from Montpelier, has confirmed that he will run for re-election next year.
Doyle could not be reached for comment about last week’s report that Ashley Hill, a Democrat from Montpelier, announced she’ll run for one of Washington County’s three seats in the state Senate.
The other two incumbents, Anthony Pollina, P/D Middlesex, and Ann Cummings, D-Montpelier, both said they expect to run for re-election, although it’s pretty early to start a campaign for the Legislature.
Doyle has been a Washington County senator since 1969, and is the longest-serving member of the Senate. He is the Senate minority leader. Doyle is also a professor of government and history at Johnson State College.
