Thanks to this week’s cold weather and a little natural snow, Bolton Valley Ski Area will open the ski and snowboard season today, New Year’s Eve.
Lifts will run from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and a fireworks display is scheduled for at 8:30 p.m. The weekend schedule is packed with family-friendly events and activities.
Snowmakers have been able to lay down enough snow on Bear Run and Mighty Mite trails to allow the mountain to open today.
“Opening on New Year’s Eve does allow for some extra fun on opening day,” said Josh Arneson, vice president of sales and marketing.
In addition to fireworks tonight, there will be a New Year’s Eve dinner in the James Moore Tavern followed by a DJ dance party to usher in the New Year. On Saturday, the snowboard company Never Summer will offer free snowboard demos. The weekend wraps up with the Tell A Friend Tour on Sunday, a chance for guests to ski in the terrain park with professional skier Andy Parry.
Daily lift tickets for opening day through the weekend are $49 for adults and $39 for youth, college students and seniors. All-ages tickets are just $19 beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at boltonvalley.com.
Bolton has three mountain peaks, 71 trails, six lifts, three terrain parks, about 100 kilometers of high-elevation Nordic terrain, a Sports Center and Indoor Amusement Center, and Vermont’s only top-to-bottom night skiing and riding.
