Choice Strategies, a division of WageWorks Inc., will be honored by the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness & Sports and the Vermont Department of Health with the Worksite Wellness Silver-Level Award. The award will be presented on today, Thursday, at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in South Burlington.

Choice Strategies, based in Waterbury Center, is a third-party administrator of consumer-directed benefits programs.

“We’ve developed a comprehensive wellness program to help our employees maintain a healthy work-life balance,” said Kristin Palmer, HR generalist and Wellness Committee member at Choice Strategies. “Wellness programs promote a better lifestyle, which can help reduce health care spending and allow employees to keep more of their hard-earned money.”

The Worksite Wellness Awards recognize Vermont companies with programs that decrease absenteeism and turnover and lower health care costs. Choice Strategies’ Wellness Committee engages employees in activities and programs designed to promote a healthy lifestyle, with emphasis on nutrition, stress reduction, ergonomics and exercise.

“Worksites that promote healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco-use cessation and breastfeeding contribute to the overall health and wellness of all Vermonters, and they are one of the key reasons we are routinely rated the nation’s healthiest state,” said Health Commissioner Harry Chen.
