Waterbury Sports, northern Vermont’s newest retail sporting goods mecca, is having a grand opening Nov. 27-29, featuring a weekend-long event and sale.
“Although we opened our doors at Waterbury Sports at the end of the summer, this is the first chance we’ve had to give a proper welcome to the community,” said Chuck Hughson, one of three owners of the new store.
The event includes food and beverages, more than $2,000 in in giveaways, free skate-sharpening all weekend, and a big sale. Local dignitaries are expected to attend the event and do some shopping for Small Business Saturday.
Waterbury Sports is a locally owned and operated business in downtown Waterbury. Its focus is serving local recreation enthusiasts, from novice to expert.
“We aim to provide people with information and resources to get active in whatever way they like,” said Ryan McGuire, another of the owners. “Our group of retail sporting goods veterans are confident we’ll be able to give some of the best customer service in northern Vermont.”
The owners were assembled by Caleb Magoon, also the owner of Power Play Sports in Morrisville. The group has a combined 50-plus years of retail sporting goods experience. The store’s inventory includes alpine, cross-country and backcountry skis; snowboards; bikes; and team sports equipment, such as hockey, lacrosse, soccer and baseball. Customers will see many familiar brands. The full-service shop also repairs and tunes bikes, skis and skates.
