Jennifer James, a senior at Harwood Union High School, has been selected by American International Sports Teams to represent the United States at the 2015 United World Games for Basketball. Team USA will travel to Germany, Austria and Italy for international competition in June 2015.
Jennifer has played basketball all of her life at many different levels. She led the Harwood varsity team in scoring as a freshman, and during her sophomore year, the team posted its best record since 2005, and the second-best record since 1996. This year, James played for former Vermont Frost Heaves player and coach Kerry Lyons on the Next Level Athletics team, which saw success at successful at several New England tournaments and competed at Junior Nationals in Washington, D.C.
James plans to play basketball in college and is currently leaning toward attending Johnson State College.
A benefit spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be held at the Waterbury Senior Center Saturday, Nov. 8, with seating times at 5 and 6:30 p.m. The menu includes salad, spaghetti, meatballs, bread, desserts and beverages; $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. There will be door prizes, a variety of auction items, lots of good food and great company.
