The Waterbury Town School Board is seeking candidates to fill an open Waterbury seat on the Waterbury-Duxbury School Board.
People who live in Waterbury and have an interest in serving the community as a steward of its schools can send a letter of interest to Waterbury Town School Board, in care of Thatcher Brook Primary School, 47 Stowe St., Waterbury, VT 05676.
Letters should be submitted by June 17. Candidates will be expected to attend a meeting of the Waterbury Town School Board on Tuesday, June 23, at 6 p.m. in the Thatcher Brook Primary School library. Each candidate will have the opportunity to introduce herself or himself and answer a few questions. The board will vote to appoint the new Waterbury-Duxbury board member at the end of the meeting.
The vacant seat is for a term that ends next March.
The board meets on the second Tuesday of every month, with special meetings to deal with such things as the school budget. Board members are encouraged to participate on at least one additional committee. Ideally, candidates would run for election next year.
