The Waterbury Area Senior Center will once again offer AARP Tax-Aide. Appointments will be available on Mondays, Feb. 16 through March 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
AARP helps low- to moderate-income taxpayers by assisting with tax services, free of charge, with special attention to those 60 and older. The center will take reservations for the one-hour time slots on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call 244-1234 to make your appointment.
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and we are now taking orders for homemade cupcakes and chocolates. You can place orders until Feb. 13. Let us know how many dozen you need, and when you would like to pick them up. Assorted cupcakes are $5 per half-dozen and $9 per dozen. We will be baking chocolate, vanilla, and carrot cake cupcakes. We will also have hand-dipped chocolates available for $8 per dozen. Available will be peanut butter, maple, and mint. Decorated sugar cookies are available for $5 per dozen.
Please join us Monday through Friday for lunch at noon. Our meals are made daily on site using fresh and local produce. If you know of anyone 60 and older who could use Meals on Wheels — a family member, neighbor or friend — please let us know by calling 244-1234.
Karol Smith is the executive director of the Waterbury Area Senior Center.
