Roger F. Farnsworth

Roger G. Farnsworth, 68, of Maple Street in Waterbury Center died peacefully at his home on Monday evening, Nov. 23, 2015, with his son RJ by his side.

He was born in Fayston Oct. 31, 1947, son of Merlin A. and Edna (Nelson) Farnsworth, and attended schools in Moretown and Waitsfield.

Roger was previously married to the former Joyce Kenyon.

As a young man, he began working in construction as a carpenter. He later switched his career to driving trucks and operating heavy equipment.

He had worked for several central Vermont businesses, including F.G. White Energy of Waitsfield, Carlos Nelson and the former Palisades Landfill.

Roger spent the last 25-plus years of his career employed by S.T. Paving. He retired in 2013 due to declining health.

Roger served his state and country as a member of the Vermont National Guard.

Roger was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed camping with family and friends. He had an incredible bond with his grandson Brantley Robert Farnsworth. Roger was more than a grandfather to him; he was his best buddy.

Survivors include his children, RJ Farnsworth and his companion Reava Burnor of Waterbury Center, Lori Farnsworth of Waitsfield and Donna Farnsworth of Winooski; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Merlene McLaughlin and husband Ed of Dade City, Fla., Margaret Taylor of Quincy, Mass., Janet Dolloff and husband Gary of Dade City, Fla., Ruth Morlock of Framingham, Mass., Eugene Farnsworth and wife Pat of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Raymond Farnsworth of Northfield, and Merrill Farnsworth and wife Robin of Waterbury; nieces, nephews and extended family.

A sister and brother, Elizabeth LaRock and Royce Farnsworth, died earlier.

It was Roger’s request that there be no public services. Donations may be made in his memory to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre VT 05641 (cvhhh.org).
