The Mad River Chorale will hold its first rehearsal for the upcoming season on Monday, Feb. 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Harwood Union High School Chorus Room. Further rehearsals will be held every Monday evening. The concert takes place during the weekend of June 27-29, with details to be determined.

As a follow-up to last spring’s well-received “St. Francis in the Americas,” a Caribbean mass sung in five languages, musical director Piero Bonamico has chosen another contemporary mass, “Misa a Buenos Aires” by Martin Palmeri. Some shorter pieces will also be on the program.

Mad River Chorale is a non-auditioned community chorus based in Waitsfield and includes singers from surrounding communities. New singers are warmly welcomed. Extensive or recent experience with choral singing is not required nor is the ability to read music, but singers should be able to hold a part. Singers may choose among several aids to music learning for practice outside of rehearsal.

Dues are charged, but no one is turned away for lack of ability to pay.

For more information, come to the first rehearsal or contact Jane Hobart at 496-2048 or a2j2h@madriver.com.
