The Mad River Chorale will present its holiday concert, “A Ceremony of Carols,” on Friday, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Waitsfield United Church and Sunday, Dec. 21, at 4:30 p.m. at Warren United Church.
Mary Bonhag of Warren will conduct, accompanied by Mary Jane Austin of Montpelier on the grand pianos in each church. New York City harpist Jacqueline Kerrod and percussionist Nicola Cannizzaro, who has returned to his home in Essex after 15 years in New York City, will also perform. Bonhag’s husband, double bassist Evan Premo, will be taking some time off from Scrag Mountain Music to play for the chorale as well.
The program will feature Benjamin Britten’s noted choral piece, “A Ceremony of Carols,” and many other songs and spirituals of the season. As always, there will be an audience singalong of carols familiar to both adults and children.
Advance tickets are available at madriverchorale.net. Adults, $15; people over 65 and students 12-21, $12; children 11 and under, free; $1 off for anyone bringing a nonperishable item for the Food Shelf. Information: 496-4781.
