Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury Center is turning 40 years old, and is reviving an old tradition — Cider Fest — this Saturday, Aug. 9, from noon to 6 p.m.

Cold Hollow opened to the public in 1974 and has become a major attraction in Vermont and a staple of central Vermont tourism.

Cider Fest was a huge annual event at the mill many years ago, and the revival this weekend is intended to be a tribute to the history and longevity of the mill.

The event includes music by a well-known bluegrass band, the Mad Mountain Scramblers; beer tastings from Long Trail Brewing and a beer tent; a cookout provided by the mill’s Apple Core Luncheonette; and activities for families, including making your own cider and lawn games.

Several local companies will be at the mill offering samples of their products, including Vermont Peanut Butter Co., Vermont Smoke & Cure, Grafton Cheese, Gringo Jacks, Jed’s Maple Products, Grand Isle Pasta, and Fat Toad Farm.

Cold Hollow Cider Mill is at 3600 Waterbury Stowe Road. Information: coldhollow.com.
