Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel, a Tibetan Buddhist teacher and author, will give a free public talk, “Faith: Beyond Belief and Doubt,” on Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m. at the College Hall Chapel at the Vermont College of Fine Arts, 36 College St., Montpelier.
She is the author of “The Power of an Open Question: The Buddha’s Path to Freedom.”
Namgyel teaches throughout the U.S and Europe and is known for inspiring others by her willingness to question everything in order to reach a place of understanding and awakening. Audience questions and comments are encouraged.
Namgyel has studied and practiced Tibetan Buddhism for 30 years and spent six years in solitary retreat under the guidance of her teacher and husband, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. She has taught with Pema Chodron, a well-known American Buddhist nun, teacher and author.
Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing after the talk.
