Redhawks honored by Vermont House and Senate

Seven Champlain Valley Union High School championship teams from 2019 were honored with Joint Resolutions of the House and Senate last week Jan. 28 at the Vermont State House.

Charlotte Representative Mike Yantachka hosted the CVU Boys Championship Volleyball Team for the reading of their resolution. On hand were the team’s head coach Jeff Boliba and analytics coach Matt Saltus.

Along with the boys volleyball team, the other 2019 CVU’s Redhawk teams honored included the state championship girls’ volleyball team, Division I boys cross-country championship team, Division I championship girls cross-country team, Division I boys soccer program on winning a second consecutive Division I championship, girls soccer program on winning a third consecutive Division I championship and the boys golf program for winning a second consecutive Division I golf championship.

The resolutions were sponsored by the Rep. Yanachka, Shelburne Representatives Kate Webb and Jessica Brumsted, Hinesburg Representative Bill Lippert and Williston Representatives James McCullough and Terence Macaig as well as the six Chittenden County State Senators Tim Ashe, Philip Baruth, Debbie Ingram, Virginia Lyons, Christopher Pearson and Michael Sirotkin.

“I am very thankful that Mike hosted us,” said Boliba. “I have officially retired from coaching this team at CVU and to be able to win four state championships in a row was very special. The standing ovation our team received at the State House was something I will never forget and always be thankful for.”
