First-year Saint Michael’s College swimmer and CVU graduate Pierce Farrington set his eighth school record of the season at meets this past week.

Saint Michael’s College men’s and women’s swimming and diving student-athletes won nine events last Wednesday while another school record fell during a pair of dual-meet losses to Bentley University in the Ross Sports Center.

First-year swimmer and Champlain Valley Union (CVU) graduate Pierce Farrington won all three events he entered while setting his sixth school record of the season, clocking in with a winning 23.99 during the 50-yard butterfly to better Tim McGrath’s ‘12 six-year-old mark. Farrington touched the wall in 22.05 in the 50-yard freestyle and 48.58 in the 100 free.

On Saturday, Farrington set his seventh and eighth school records and was one of 13 Saint Michael’s College men’s and women’s swimming and diving student-athletes to win at least one event during dual-meet losses to The College of Saint Rose at home.

Farrington won three times to pace the men. His time of 53.92 in the 100-yard backstroke bested Dan Healy’s ‘12 mark of 54.27 set three years ago, which was the same season the 200-yard individual medley standard was established. Farrington clocked in at 2:00.30 in the 200 IM to lower senior Nathan Paluso’s former record of 2:02.93. Farrington now holds eight records, which is also a program mark, across breaststroke, freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and IM events. During the 400-yard medley relay, Farrington, Paluso, and first-years Joe Carroll and Zach Kosakowski won in a time of 3:50.68.

The Purple Knights head to Saint Lawrence University on Sunday for a 1pm meet.
