Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) boys cross country had a convincing victory at this year’s state championship meet at Thetford Academy, totaling an impressively low total of 19 points. Tyler Marshall of CVU was the overall winner of the race with a time of 17:04.2. He was followed by teammates Calvin McClellan (2nd), Baxter Bishop (4th), Elliot Eastman (5th) and Harken Spillane (7th).
It was the first state championship for the boys since 1999.
On the girls side, Sophia Gorman of CVU finished first overall in Division 1 with a time of 19:30. The remaining scoring team members were Jennifer Ireland (4th), Meara Heininger (6th), Ella Whitman (11th) and Haley Harder (15th).
It was the 7th State Championship in a row for the girls team and the 12th out of the last 13.
