We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the residents of South Burlington and nearby communities who donated bicycles and sewing machines to the 21st Green Mountain Returned Peace Corps collection for international development on Saturday, Sept. 21.

By the end of the event, we had collected 135 bikes and 95 sewing machines for Pedals for Progress, as well as $2,000 toward shipping costs. By the beginning of 2020, these items will be bringing hope and income to communities in Albania and Tanzania. A highlight of the morning was celebrating the 500th sewing machine since this annual event began in 1999. Special thanks to two wonderful volunteers from Rice High School who worked tirelessly processing bikes and loading the truck.

We’ll see you again next September. If your group would like to be involved, please be in touch.

Thank you.

Joanne Heidkamp
