Help me continue to serve

To the Editor:

I request your vote in this election so I may continue to serve as your selectboard representative.

I want you to know I have appreciated your support over the last 9 years while serving on the board; I look forward to your continued support. While we don’t always agree on issues, I hope you feel I have kept my commitment to help this town navigate through many issues and challenges using respectful and transparent communication.

I was planning on stepping down this year. Besides looking to simplify my own life, I also feel change can be good for our town as it allows people with new ideas and enthusiasm to become part of the board. That is what I said when I first ran many years ago.

As the election approached, however, several people I respect asked if I would be willing to continue to serve because our town is presently in a transition period.

Our selectboard members are fairly new and Hinesburg will soon have a new town administrator (or town manager), who might benefit from the historical perspective I can provide.

These changes are in addition to a list of on-going town activities, include two large development projects, a new wastewater project, a need to expand our water system and creation of a new ambulance service. When I realized there was a one-year term open this year, I thought perhaps this was meant to be.

I am running for selectboard to fill in the last year of this two-year position. I promise to continue to work hard, listen, try to understand all sides of any issue and make the best decisions possible. If I’ve earned your trust so far, please consider supporting me again at the polls. And, very importantly, do vote on all the important issues presented by the board in this election.
