What do the following activities have in common: listening to talented local musicians, watching a mesmerizing puppet show, dining on locally sourced food, viewing a gallery full of the work of local artists, filling a market bag with locally made items, and learning about Hinesburg’s history? If you haven’t guessed by now, they are just a few of the fun, delicious, and educational opportunities to be found at the upcoming Hinesburg Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Town Hall.
With an impressive list of activities from 10am until 4pm, there will be entertainment for all ages, starting with a must-see puppet show by No Strings Marionette Company called “Bully! For The Three Big Pigs” at St. Jude’s Church starting at 10am. The show is free and open to the public. Prepare to be astounded by lavish costumes, soundtracks, props, and whimsical characters such as Beverly Swills, Pigcasso, and I.M. Pig. A feast for the eyes, ears and imagination, you’ll want to see what all the huffing and puffing is about!
Throughout the day, Town Hall and the surrounding grounds will be the center of activity featuring musical entertainers, an outdoor Farmers’ Market, a one-day art gallery, a display by the Hinesburg Historical Society and kids’ activities. What will you see at the Town Hall venue? Oil paintings, photography, homemade jams and jellies, baked goods, handcrafted items, historical exhibits, musicians, limited edition prints, watercolor, and gouache paintings. What is gouache? Come to the Town Hall gallery and find out.
Don’t forget to reserve your tickets for the Stone Soup Supper, serving from 6-7pm, hosted by NRG at their beautiful dining room on Rt. 116, to benefit the Hinesburg Food Shelf. Enjoy a community meal featuring delicious soups, salads, and sweets made with locally sourced foods. Adults: $10, children ages 5-12: $5 and children under 5 free.
