Grant writing workshop benefits Howard Center

Majoya Writing will be presenting grant writing workshops at The Best Western of Waterbury on Sept. 17, 18, and 19 from 9am-3pm, with lunch included each day. The charge is $150 per participant per day, and $10 of each participant fee benefits the Howard Center programs. Attendees can opt for the entire three-day workshop or for separate days within the three-day span.

The first day of the workshop, Sept. 17, is titled “Before You Write the First Word.” This workshop is designed for those who are new to grant writing, or for people who have basic experience but want to brush up their skills. On Sept. 18, “Writing Between the Lines,” is an advanced workshop for those with a little more experience; it is a continuation of skills from the first workshop. The third segment, “What Do the Numbers Say?” on Sept. 19, reviews budgets and methods to keep financials organized.

Majoya Writing is the result of 42 years combined writing and editing experience of partners Rebecca and SallyAnn Majoya. According to Rebecca, “my wife and I have started our own business after many years in the nonprofit world. We are presenting workshops on writing to achieve our dream of offering useful tools to others, while also donating a portion of our earnings to causes close to our heart.”

Thanks to the support of this organization, for the past two years he has been able to successfully live in Burlington, work toward some of his goals, and develop an independent lifestyle; one that he could not have had otherwise. He has been supported with a home care provider and is now part of the SUCCEED program, living with several other young adults who need social and life skills support.”
