Slow Money Vermont plans kick off Sept. 16

Slow Money founder Woody Tasch will speak at the company’s launch event on Sept. 16 from 5:30-7:30pm at Vermont College of Fine Arts in the Chapel at College Hall in Montpelier. The event promises to connect entrepreneurs, investors, and service providers and share vision for 21st Century Main Street investing to support a viable and sustainable agricultural economy in Vermont and the region.

Slow Money Vermont strives to connect individuals, businesses, philanthropists, and investors who are interested in building more a more sustainable regional food system. It was organized through a task force connected to Vermont Farm to Plate, a statewide initiative seeking to increase investments and financial partnerships in food system enterprises. The idea is to grow not only kale and carrots, but agricultural businesses and services, slowly and effectively.

Agricultural and food business entrepreneurs, investors, funders and lenders, and anyone interested in supporting the work of re-building a healthy food system in Vermont is encouraged to attend. Participants will learn about the vision, goals, and structure of the new Slow Money Vermont Network. In addition to the presentation by Tasch, Cheryl Devos of Kimball Brook Farm Organic Milk and leaders of Slow Money Vermont will also present.

The event is free and open to the public. Complimentary light refreshments will be served, and there will be a cash bar for those with the inclination to imbibe.
