The work day is done, and you’re on your way home. If you’re like the majority of humanity, you didn’t really stick to the seven-day meal and shopping plan from that magazine article that promised to take the stress out of cooking dinner. If you’re like me, you’ve forgotten that dinner requires effort and planning, and you’re thinking of how you can make that bag of peas in your freezer taste better than tiny green marbles.
Enter takeout, the oft alluring solution to an empty refrigerator and scrambled brain. Last Friday, I gave into my absolute exhaustion and cravings for cheese covered everything and stopped into Marco’s Pizza. Knowing I couldn’t eat a whole pizza (unfortunately), I ordered a Steak & Cheese sandwich with mushrooms, peppers, and onions on house made ciabatta bread. While it may not seem glamorous, the humble combination of hot steak, cheese, and vegetables never fails to fill the stomach and comfort the palate. And true to form, Marco’s version of the classic sandwich satisfied on every level.
Of course that’s not the only option at Marco’s that could quench a craving for cheesy, garlicky goodness. The newly revamped menu launched in December features a variety of Italian American options, from garlic knots and antipasto salad to eggplant parmesan and flatbread pizza. Like all of their pizzas, the flatbread features a hand tossed crust, but instead of tomato sauce, it shines with the simple combination of oil, garlic, parmesan, and two toppings of your choice. I happen to love pairing it with tomato and basil, but the board is wide open for combinations of any kind.
Whether you’re eating alone or catering to a crowd, you’ll find options to please even the most discriminatory of taste buds at Marco’s. As far as pizza goes, the Buffalo Chicken, New Orleans, and Philly pizzas offer distinctive flavors that far surpass expectations. Throw in a Greek or Caesar salad and you have yourself a full and satisfying meal. And if, unlike me, you don’t pass by the restaurant on your way home from work, Marco’s also delivers for free to residences within a three mile radius. So crack open a bottle of wine, call in your order, and sit back while the pros at Marco’s toss and toast your pie to perfection.
