The Shelburne, Charlotte, and South Burlington Democratic Committees are joining together to co-sponsor the screening of the documentary “Pay 2 Play: Democracy’s High Stakes.”
This film, released in 2014, probes the quid pro quo relationship between government and major political donors. This is a provocative documentary about how our democracy is currently being undermined by special business interests with deep pockets. A discussion will be led afterwards by Phil Fiermonte, a member of Senator Bernie Sanders’ staff.
“We are pleased to join with the Charlotte and South Burlington Committees to show this documentary which exposes and explains well a major obstacle to our democracy. We also look forward to an engaged discussion after the film focusing on solutions to this problem,” Marcella Chiarello, Chair of the Shelburne Democratic Committee stated.
The screening will take place Thursday, April 16 at 7pm at the Shelburne Town Offices, 2nd Floor, 5420 Shelburne Rd. Refreshments will be served. Attendance is free. Donations will be welcomed. For further information, please call (802) 999-9881.
