Polling booths in Charlotte and Hinesburg were not bustling with activity during the Primary Election Tuesday, Aug. 26. In fact, Charlotte Town Clerk Mary Mead reported that only 9 percent of registered voters in town made it to the polls. At left, Charlotte Selectboard member Matthew Krasnow campaigns for Democratic candidate for Sheriff, Ed Cafferty of Charlotte, during the Primaries. Cafferty lost the election to incumbent Kevin McLaughlin 2,808 to 1,300. In other election results Democratic State Senator David Zuckerman and Republican State Senator Diane Snelling, both of Hinesburg, won their respective races. Democratic candidates Bill Lippert of Hinesburg (District 4-2) and Mike Yantachka of Charlotte (District 4-1) won the State Representative’s race while Charlotte resident Ed Stone is the Republican candidate for State Representative (District 4-1).
