Louise Roomet, a Hinesburg resident, loved to walk a popular 4.25-mile loop and share the beauty of the Lewis Creek landscape with her neighbors, friends, and dogs. Roomet’s enjoyment of this special part of Hinesburg led to her initial organization of the Hinesburg Land Trust fundraiser, the Turkey Lane Trot. The Trot, established in 1997 as a running race to help preserve land in Hinesburg for public use forever, returns Sunday, Nov. 30 at 12:45pm for walkers and at 1pm for runners at Turkey Lane Bridge in Hinesburg. Registration will be open from 11:45am to 12:45pm rain or shine.

The current fun run and walk encourages everyone, running enthusiasts, bikers, walkers, and walkers with strollers or dogs, to participate in the event for a donation to the Hinesburg Land Trust of $15 per individual, $20 per couple, and $25 per family.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving observance. Eat lots of turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. Then get back into a fitness regime by participating in the Turkey Lane Trot Sunday, Nov. 30. Count your blessings, honor Louise Roomet, and support the Hinesburg Land Trust all in one fell swoop.
