With Charlotte boasting a 48 percent voter turnout, State Rep. Michael Yantachka was re-elected to district 4-1 representing Charlotte-Hinesburg, defeating Republican candidate Ed Stone 901 votes to 571 votes.

Representative to Congress Peter Welch (1,682) will continue to hold his current position.

Major state level race results in Charlotte mirrored the statewide results for all races, including the Governor’s race, which was too close to call early Wednesday morning, with Peter Shumlin receiving 784 votes over 619 votes for Scott Milne. As neither gubernatorial candidate received a majority vote, the race will be decided by the legislature when they convene in January.

In the Lieutenant Governor’s race, Phil Scott received 870 votes over Dean Corran’s 627. Jim Condos received 1,072 votes in his race for Secretary of State over Ben Eastwood with 130 votes and Mary Alice Herbert who received 91 votes. Democrat Beth Peace was re-elected with a 976 overwhelming votes over Don Schramm’s 179 votes, and Murray Ngoima’s 72 votes. Auditor of Accounts Doug Hoffer ran unopposed and received 1,061 votes to win re-election. In the Attorney General’s race Bill Sorrell defeated Shane McCormack and Rosemarie Jackowski 987-491-33 respectively. The state senators voted for in Charlotte were Ginny Lyons (846), Diane Snelling (849), Philip Baruth (814), David Zuckerman (809), Tim Ashe (787), and Michael Sirotkin (676). Candidates for Justice of the Peace Jill Abilock, Greg Cluff, Moe Harvey, Lorna Jimerson, Mike Krasnow, Leo Laberge, Debbie Ramsdell, Jerry Schwarz, Carrie Spear, Ed Stone, Michael Yantachka, and Seth Zimmerman were elected.
