Burlington DJ Andy A_Dog Williams passed away on Dec. 26, 2013, after a yearlong fight against Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the young age of 38. Throughout his fight, Andy was courageous, fearless, hopeful, positive, and smiling until the end. Andy may be gone, but his musical and artistic legacy and those he affected will remain forever.
In Andy’s honor, Main Street Landing will host a benefit for Friends for A_Dog Foundation Friday, Aug. 29 at 6pm at the Film House and Lobby, 60 Lake and College Street, in Burlington. This specially planned fundraiser will feature the premiere of “Andy ‘A_Dog’ Williams: A Video Tribute” created by Seth Neary of Driven Studio.
The evening will begin with an hour of socializing and a listening party for the pre-release of “Friends For A_Dog Volume 1,” a special CD produced by Nastee and friends. Pizza will be provided through the generosity of Panacea Pizza and 14th Star Brewing Company will provide tastings of specially brewed A_Dog Ale. Merchandise will be available for purchase, and all proceeds benefit Friends for A_Dog Foundation. Shared remembrances will begin at 7pm followed by the video tribute.
Tickets may be purchased through www.flynntix.org or at the Flynn Theater box office for $10. They will also be available at the door, and due to limited capacity overflow will be available for a second showing, scheduled for 8:30pm. For more information please email joan.furchgott@gmail.com.
Friends For A_Dog was a group created to help aide and support Andy in his fight against AML. After his passing, Friends for A_Dog (FFA_D) became a nonprofit to carry on Andy’s legacy. To learn more about FFA_D’s mission please visit www.friendsforadog.com.
In addition to the fundraiser, a celebration called “A_Dog Day” planned for Saturday, Aug. 30 will honor the life of Andy A_Dog Williams. The day commences at 3pm with a Go Skate event at City Hall Park and concludes at Arts Riot with a musically charged evening. Festivities also include creative and artistic workshops, a silent auction, and a bone marrow drive.
