All Souls Interfaith Gathering will host the 13th Annual Choral Celebration in the Breeding Barn at Shelburne Farms Sunday, Sept. 28 beginning at 4pm. If you’ve never heard the sound of music filling a barn, resonating off the wooden walls, you’ll be astounded by the voices of the All Souls Interfaith Choir and the South County Chorus. Matt Kolan, of UVM Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, will share reflections on learning from the wisdom of nature.
The event is dedicated to peace and healing of the earth. It will include inspirational readings and a homily delivered by Kolan, who spent the last year on sabbatical exploring practices that bring life more fully into alignment with nature. Traveling across the country, he interviewed spiritual leaders, artists, musicians, community organizers, and visionaries, exploring ways of creating conditions for life to thrive. He will share stories and insights from this tour, as well as his own experience engaging with these themes. At the University of Vermont, Kolan teaches courses in field ecology, systems-thinking, and is developing a new Masters Program in Ecological Leadership.
The Choral Celebration is open to the public, and free-will donations are gratefully accepted at the door. This is the first Evensong service of the fall of All Souls Interfaith Gathering, a community center in Shelburne that welcomes people of all faiths to gather and explore spiritual and human values.
The barn is unheated, so please dress for the weather. For more information call All Souls Interfaith Gathering (802) 985-3819 or visit www.allsoulsinterfaith.org.
