Hundreds of children and adults parade through downtown Waterbury, carrying ornate lanterns in a tradition that started a decade ago as an art project at Thatcher Brook Primary School.

Imagination has broadened and blossomed in the 10 years of Waterbury’s River of Light. Children and adults have learned to express all kinds of emotions with their lanterns, with hard-to-imagine details. And, the annual march through downtown is just captivating.
