Members of the TRIP Dance Company competed at two dance conventions in Boston, the West Coast Dance Explosion on March 2 and 3, and the Tremaine Dance Convention on March 16 and 17.
At the West Coast Dance Explosion, the juniors’ ballet number, “Coppelia,” received the award for Best Overall number. It also won the award for Best Showmanship at the Tremaine Dance Convention. The teens’ musical theater number, “Beauty School Dropout,” received the award for Best Showmanship. “Coppelia” and the musical theater number, “London Baby,” tied for ninth place, and the ballet, “Swan Lake,” came in 13th place overall.
Avery Marchand of Stowe and Madeleine O’Dwyer and Reilly Faith of Morrisville received Elite Dancer awards for free year-long conventions across the country and an invitation to compete at nationals in Las Vegas. Scholarships were also given to Rachael Barr, Natalie Herwood and Eliza Krakower of Stowe, and Sophia Minter of Waterbury Center. Savannah Rolfe, Emmy Schoepke, Katie Gallagher and Avery Marchand of Stowe, and Carmen Isabell and Sojourn Gudorf-Johnson of Elmore were given scholarships at Tremaine, allowing them to attend for free next year. Isabell and Johnson were also given national scholarships inviting them to compete this summer in Los Angeles and attend next year’s conventions.
