STOWE DANCERS Stowe’s TRIP Dance Company, directed by Helena Sullivan, will present two performances Saturday, March 17, at 3 and 7:30 p.m. at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center at Stowe Mountain Resort. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance from any TRIP dancer, at the Stowe Dance Academy, or at the door. TRIP is a competitive dance troupe associated with Stowe Dance Academy.

The troupe offers young dancers an opportunity to master technique and performance skills in ballet, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. Proceeds will help provide dance scholarships and offset costs of conventions, where the dancers perform and receive instruction. The 40 dancers, ages 8 to 18, are from Stowe, Morrisville, Waterbury Center and Colchester.

Several of the numbers have won awards in national competitions, most recently Feb. 25 at the West Coast Dance Explosion in Boston, where TRIP’s production piece “Baba Yetu” — which includes all TRIP Dance Company members — took first place and was judged teen overall high score production. It also won the highest score overall in any group piece at Tremaine Dance March 10 (out of 85 dances), and TRIP’s “Be Italian” was ranked second.
