Carolyn Mecklosky: "Safe families; Familias Unidas"

Artist Carolyn Mecklosky is closing her art show on Friday, Oct. 4 with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Third Floor Gallery in Hardwick. Mecklosky has taught in the Lamoille area for over 40 years, and created collaborative and community art works at locations including NVU-Johnson, Laraway School, Clarina Howard Nichols Center, Foote Brook Farm, Johnson’s town offices and the Studio Center. “I work from memory, photos and sketching,” Mecklosky said. “Recently I’ve wanted to explore painting people I know or see, to honor us here … friends and neighbors and even strangers as we wait together for a train. …These portraits celebrate our connections.” A portion of sales from prints will benefit Humanitarian Aid in Arizona, supporting families at the border.
