Shelly Martin prepares to splash into the Sterling Pond Gorge after launching off a ramp on her bicycle during the Stowe Mountain Bike Club’s 2013 Pond Jump. About 50 people showed up for the event.

The Stowe Mountain Bike Club is holding two events this month.

The first, Ride with a Pro, is Friday, Aug. 7, at 5:30 p.m., when cyclists will meet Dylan Conte at the Golden Eagle Resort on Mountain Road. Conte will start with instructional drills and then take the group into the Cady Hill Forest. Space is limited. Register at 233-2129 or info@stowemountainbike.com.

The annual Pond Jump Party and Sterling Valley Trail Work Day will be held Saturday, Aug. 22. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Sterling Gorge parking lot in Sterling Valley for the trail work. Cool off with a jump in the pond and barbecue from noon to 3 p.m. Come for one or both events. Bring a salad or dessert if possible for this family-friendly event.
