Kiss Me, Kate
The cast and crew for Stowe Theatre Guild’s production of Cole Porter’s romantic musical comedy, “Kiss Me, Kate,” have moved into Town Hall Theatre, the set is under construction, and the show will open on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. Performances are Thursday to Saturday, Sept. 25 to 27, Oct. 2 to 4 and Oct. 9 to 11 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 28, Oct. 5 and 12, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $23 for adults and $13 for children, which includes sales tax and service fees: stowetheatre.com, info@stowethe

Auditions at Lyndon State
Twilight Players will present a series of four plays in a reader’s theater format as part of Lyndon State College’s 2014-15 campaign, “Year of Social Justice.” The auditions will be open to LSC students, faculty, staff, and the general public in an effort to create unique casts of varying ages and backgrounds. The four productions combined have over 30 roles available for actors of varying cultures and ages.
Auditions take place on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. in the Burke Mountain Room at Lyndon State College, 1001 College Road, Lyndonville. Actors will be auditioning for four plays that will be produced throughout the year. The shows will require minimal rehearsing.
“The Laramie Project” by Moises Kaufman, Oct. 17, presents a theatrical document about the events and aftermath of Matthew Shepard’s death.
“Seven,” Feb. 13, 2015, showcases the voices of seven women documented and brought to life by seven female playwrights.
“Trouble in Mind” by Alice Childress, March 5, 2015, tells the story of an African American actress in the 1950s starring in her first major Broadway play and examines the subtleties of prejudice and racism.
“A Peasant of El Salvador” by Vermont artists Peter Gould and Stephen Stearns, March 26, 2015, takes a closer look at the civil wars in El Salvador in the 1980s and world politics.

Vermont Stage Co. season
Vermont Stage Company in Burlington is also planning ahead for its 2014-2015 productions. The 10th anniversary of “Winter Tales,” hosted by artistic director Cristina Alicea, takes place Dec. 10 to 14, with the Winter Tales Gala Benefit on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m. Local storytellers bring life to new, funny and heartfelt stories from members of the Burlington Writers Workshop, interspersed with poetry from the Young Writers Project and folk songs written and performed by Patti Casey.
2015 theater productions include “Or” by Liz Duffy, directed by Sarah Carleton, about poet, spy and first professional female playwright, Aphra Behn, Jan. 28 to Feb. 15; “Slowgirl” by Greg Pierce, directed by Robin Fawcett, March 11-29; and “The Mountaintop” by Katori Hall, the 2010 Olivier Award Winner for Best New Play, directed by Cristina Alicea, April 22 to May 10.
The season concludes in June with Vermont Stage’s fourth annual experimental production called The Bake Off, June 16 to 21, where one play is made three ways by three directors and casts. Each performance will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience and the directors about the artistic process.
