Stowe Free Library and Helen Day Art Center

Stowe Free Library will offer the statewide independent summer reading program, “Every Hero Has a Story,” open to all ages. The program includes reading challenges and incentives, story times, free events, and activities. There will be an official registration on the last day of school in the library’s community meeting room, or join any time after Monday, June 1.

Registration includes a book bag containing a reading record, bookmark, stickers, tattoo, and a copy of the Scoop newspaper. Participants set their own goals and complete a reading record.

Other programs include the Library Reading Incentive game and the Bedtime Math program, with prizes.

Middle grade readers in grades 4 to 8 can join the Dorothy Canfield Fisher (DCF) Book Club, based on the statewide children’s choice award program, enter a raffle for a 2015 DCF book, and attend a book discussion group on the first Tuesday evening of the month. Red Clover Award readers can also read books for prizes.

Young adults can also enter a book raffle, and are invited to attend Tuesday Movie Nights and a special Young Writer’s Project workshop.
