Damage from the Nepal earthquake

A devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck April 25, killing more than 7,000 people, injuring more than 14,000 and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless.

A fundraiser for the residents of Thame, Nepal, will be held today, Thursday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Phoenix Table and Bar, 1652 Mountain Road, Stowe. The event is free and open to the public.

Jan Reynolds of Stowe will show a photo exhibit and give a multimedia talk about crossing the world’s highest trade pass in the Himalayas, and exactly where donations will go to rebuild the village of Thame, where not one house was left standing after the first quake.

Reynolds has close ties with the Thame area, and donations will be given to High Monk Nawang to distribute to the villagers.

For those who can’t attend but want to help, checks can be made payable to Good Fun-d and sent to Jan Reynolds, 4856 Mountain Road, Stowe, VT 05672. Information: janreynolds@pshift.com, janreynolds.com.
