Garden Workshop

The spring Grow It! workshop from the Vermont Community Garden Network takes place on Monday, May 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at O’Brien Community Center, 32 Malletts Bay Ave., Winooski. These workshops are open to anyone working with a community or school garden. The cost is $30 each, with a sliding scale based on ability to pay. Pre-registration is required: vcgn.org; 861-4769.

Beekeeping Meeting

The Lamoille County Beekeepers Club will meet on Wednesday, May 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stowe Library’s community meeting room. The guest speaker is Bill Mares, author of “Bees Besieged.” Anyone interested in bees and beekeeping is welcome. Information: Michelle Rauch, mprauch@aol.com.

Embroiderers’ Gathering

The Green Mountain Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America will meet on Wednesday, May 14, at 9:30 a.m. in the Living/Dining Room at The Pines, 5 Aspen Drive, South Burlington. Rural Vermont Potluck

Rural Vermont’s 29th annual celebration and discussion of food freedom takes place on Thursday, May 15, at the American Legion, Route 103, Chester. There will be a potluck and cash bar. Donations are welcome. Information and RSVP: ruralvermont.org, 223-7222.

Hyde Park Variety Show

The fourth annual Community Variety Show, organized by the Hyde Park Partners in Education, will be held on Friday, May 16, at the Hyde Park Opera House. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m. Admission is by donation. Information: mark.isselhardt@uvm.edu.

Waterbury Kids Fest

The Waterbury Kids Fest is planned for Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rusty Parker Park, with music, dancing, children’s crafts and activities, demonstrations, snacks, and a bike rodeo and helmet giveaway at the Waterbury train station.
