A cappella group

Hamilton College’s a cappella group Duelly Noted is giving a special performance on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction, 39 Main St. A free-will offering will be taken for the Heavenly Food Pantry. Information: duellynoted.org. Church office: 878-5745.

Fiddle concert

Canada’s Ottawa Valley meets old-time Appalachia with crack fiddling, electric step dancing, and great vocals when the April Verch Band comes to Chandler Music Hall, 71-73 Main St., Randolph, on Friday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. Concert-goers are invited to a community potluck meal at 6 p.m. in the Esther Mesh Room. Admission to the dinner is free with the contribution of a dish to share. Beverages will be offered at a cash bar.

Verch is the first woman in history to win both of Canada’s most prestigious fiddle championships, the Grand Masters and Canadian Open. She will offer two workshops: a 60-minute Canadian fiddle styles workshop on Friday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m., and step dancing on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. A discounted workshop/concert package is available through the box office by Wednesday, Jan. 14: 728-6464.

Printmaking show

Also at the Chandler Music Hall is a reception on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. for “Making an Impression,” the work of 18 Vermont printmakers (through Sunday, March 9). Light refreshments and a cash bar will be available. Information: outreach@chandler-arts.org.

Indie classical

Charly and Margaux, Brooklyn-based indie classical composers whose distinct sound draws on everything from baroque to blues, will perform on Monday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. in the Performance Space in Stearns Student Center at Johnson State College. Although their training at Boston College and Berklee School of Music was steeped in classical music, Charly and Margaux have gone on to collaborate with hip-hop artists and rappers including Kendrick Lamar, Pharoahe Monch, Wyclef Jean and Casey Veggies. They write contemporary pieces and perform classical improvisation. The concert is free and open to the public. Church supper

Enjoy a traditional French Canadian supper on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 5 p.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church Hall in Richmond. The menu includes pea soup, meat pie, baked potatoes, dessert, and beverages. The $10 suggested donation benefits the charities of the Rosary Council of the Knights of Columbus 4684. Soup fundraiser

An Empty Bowls soup supper fundraiser for the Waterbury Food Shelf will take place on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 5:30 p.m. at the Waterbury Congregational Church.
