Flynn ticket special
The Flynn Center for the Arts is offering 2014-2015 ticket discounts during the subscription period ending on Wednesday, Aug. 13. Buy tickets for at least three performances and save 10 to 15 percent. The single ticket period begins Thursday, Aug. 14. Outdoor movie showing
Stowe Vibrancy will present a free Outdoor Movie Night featuring “The Princess Bride” on Friday, Aug. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Lackey’s Lawn Amphithe-ater on Main Street. Scaling the Cliffs of Insanity, battling rodents of unusual size, facing torture in the Pit of Despair — true love has never been a snap. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Kosher barbecue at JCOGS
An end-of-summer kosher barbecue will be held on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 5 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Stowe, on Cape Cod Road. Vegetarian options will be available. All are welcome — bring your own beverage. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for children under 12 if payment is made by Aug. 20; after that the cost will be $20 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Benefit concert
Pianist Diane Huling and violinist Raymond Karl Malone, a former Stowe resident, will give a benefit concert for the Community Emergency Aid Fund on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at Stowe Community Church on Main Street. The Vermonters are known internationally as both solo and chamber musicians. The program will include music of Mozart, Handel and Brahms. The Community Emergency Aid fund, while administered by the church, is available to help everyone who needs food, shelter or other aid,. Admission is by donation at the door. Information: 253-7257.
Jeff Tweedy plays at Flynn
Tweedy, founding member of Wilco, will play the Flynn Theater in Burlington on Monday, Sept. 29. Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. Tickets: flynntix.org, 86-FLYNN. Information: visit highergroundmusic.com.
