The 12th annual Stowe Mountain Film Festival continues with the film “Grazing the Sky” on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, 122 Hourglass Drive, Stowe Mountain Resort.
The film looks at the incredible physical exploits and the compelling stories of circus acrobats, including adversity and the real risk of severe injury. Their lives in the limelight include years of study and practice, an iron discipline, an ongoing commitment to learning new skills, and constant travel.
Director Horacio Alcalá follows eight acrobats from all over the world, intercutting interviews with their performance of breathtaking feats. Alcalá has been involved with circus arts for seven years, including with Cirque du Soleil; he traveled to 11 countries over the course of five years to capture these stories.
The Stowe Mountain Film Festival is presented by the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum and the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center with support from the John M. Bissell Foundation.
Tickets are $12 (member discounts are available): 760-4634, sprucepeakarts.org.
