Dr. Cheryl Casey is a professor of communication and media at Champlain College.

“How to Recognize Dis- and Misinformation and Why It Matters” is the topic of the Wednesday, Oct. 4, Lamoille Valley Osher Lifelong Learning at the Stowe Cinema.

Dr. Cheryl Casey is a professor of communication and media at Champlain College. She teaches and writes in the areas of critical media theory, media literacy, language and culture and religion and media. Her

latest book, “Navigating the Information Landscape: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Media and Information Literacy,” will be available in 2024.

With communication technologies rapidly evolving, the world is faced with greater challenges than ever to be intentional and effective seekers, consumers and producers of information. Casey will provide some information skills and critical awareness for taking back our freedom of thought from those who would hijack the information landscape in the name of power and profit.
