Hi, my name is Jake McKenna. I’m 7 years old and I’m a first-grader at Stowe Elementary School. I am writing this article to give parents a “heads up” on their kids’ upcoming presentations in the Friday Community Meetings held every Friday morning at the elementary school. I am telling you to come to the Friday Community Meeting so that you don’t miss these exciting moments because it’s your kids’ time to shine!
Please give your appreciation to Richard Smiles, our school’s principal, who runs the Community Meetings. There is always an assigned class to do some kind of a performance at our meetings. There are individual students for: the Pledge of Allegiance, announcing students’ birthdays, special announcements and guest speakers, and there are usually funny jokes to hear from our students.
This is the Schedule of Class Presentations for the rest of the school year:
April 4 – Mr. Semler, fifth grade
April 11 – Ms. Economou, first grade
April 25 – Ms. Annetts, fourth grade
May 2 – Senora Reina, Spanish class
May 9 – Mr. Dacales, kindergarten
May 16 – Mrs. Leene, second grade
May 23 – Mrs. Monahan, school counselor
May 30 – Mr. Greene, enrichment teacher
June 6 – To be announced
The next Friday Community Meeting will be on April 4. Let’s give it up for Mr. Semler’s fifth-grade class for what we know will be a great skit on kindness. “Kindness” is one of the school’s Habits of Mind. Come see this very entertaining performance! Two of the main characters are Skyler Graves as “Kid Kindness” and Charlie Kerrigan as “Professor Happiness.” Did you think that was all? There’s more! Mr. Semler will be playing the guitar for the skit as the kids sing “Energy” by Apples in Stereo. Come see this! You will be amazed!
Check back with me, Jake McKenna, next week for more information on the next Friday Community Meeting.
