The Mount Mansfield Auto Toll Road is now open for the summer.

The 150-year-old, 4.5-mile unpaved road begins next to the Inn at the Mountain, located at 5781 Mountain Road, and climbs to an elevation of 3,850 feet. The road ends at a parking lot on the ridgeline of Mount Mansfield.

From there, people have spectacular hiking options, including routes to the Chin on Mount Mansfield, at 4,393 feet; it’s the highest point in Vermont.

Bikes and motorcycles are not allowed on the Toll Road.

The toll for a car and its driver is $19; each additional passenger age 6 and up costs $6. The Toll Road is open daily from 9 to 4. Details are at stowe.com.
