A 19-year-old man sought by local police in a sexual assault case was arrested in New York City this week by U.S. Marshals.

Juan Vasquez was located in the Bronx, where he lives, and taken into custody without incident, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

The Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department had obtained an arrest warrant for Vasquez on June 21, charging him with sexual assault, with bail set at $100,000.

The sheriff’s department had asked for the Marshals’ help after learning he had fled Vermont to avoid prosecution.

Vasquez was held in New York on a charge of fugitive from justice, and authorities expect him to be returned to Vermont.
