A man arrested in August on multiple child pornography charges is now accused of sexually assaulting a young girl in the late 1980s or early 1900s.

Everett Allen Kidder, 52, of Tunbridge was arrested on Aug. 11 for possession of child pornography, and Vermont State Police circulated the news in local media outlets. Five days later, a 32-year-old woman called police to allege Kidder had sexually assaulted her when she was between the ages of 4 and 7.

The woman alleged Kidder raped her in a Morrisville apartment. She said she remembered only one incident clearly, but thinks Kidder may have assaulted her more than that.

The woman told police she had told some people about the incident when she was a teenager, and her mother told police her daughter told her, too.

Police searched Kidder’s cellphone, which was already in their possession as part of the child pornography investigation. On the phone, police found numerous sexually explicit computer-generated images, and some of them had the alleged victim’s name and his name in conversation bubbles.

Police also found several internet searches looking for information on whether a person can go to jail in Vermont 20 years after raping a 5-year-old.

Kidder pleaded not guilty last week in Lamoille County Superior Court to aggravated sexual assault on a minor under 13 years of age. If convicted, he faces 10 years to life in prison, with a maximum fine of $50,000.
