Saxophonist Wayne Shorter will meet the public Friday, June 5, at 5:30 p.m. at the FlynnSpace, 153 Main St., Burlington, then play a show with his quartet that evening at 8. Admission to the discussion is free; tickets to the show are $25 to $80 at flynntix.org.
Shorter will be part of a discussion moderated by Bob Blumenthal, critic-in-residence for the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions. At 8, Shorter will be on the Flynn MainStage with the rest of his quartet: Danilo Perez, piano; John Patitucci, bass; Brian Blade, drums. Shorter is a Grammy-winning saxophonist, composer and NEA Jazz Master. He wrote music for Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, was a member of Miles Davis’ Second Great Quintet, and co-founded the jazz fusion band Weather Report.
